Tennis Cook Islands Upgrading all their Tennis Facilities,

Tennis Cook Islands have engaged New Zealand Court Resurfacing Company, Plexipave, to upgrade all their facilities not only in Rarotonga but on the outer Islands. The main part of the resurfacing is at their National Tennis Courts near the airport which were originally built for the 2009 Pacific Mini Games. These 4 courts are the only tournament standard courts in the Cook Islands with the forward intent to hold ITF and other events there.

Over the last 12 years, these court have been used by the Cook Islands National Coach for the training of Juniors, Intermediates and Seniors. Apart from resurfacing these 4 courts, Plexipave (Jules and Mel) decided to extend their time in Rarotonga and will resurface, free of charge, community courts in Nikao and also on one of the outer islands at Mauke.

Jules has owned Plexipave NZ since 2012 and over this time has surfaced hundreds of courts across New Zealand, Australia and the South Pacific. Jules made a living playing competitive tennis in Germany for over 11 years, playing, coaching and hitting at the top level. Jules was hitting partner for Anke Huber, former WTA ranked world number 4 player at the time. Jules has an in-depth knowledge and extensive experience in the tennis industry and acrylic surfacing both nationally and internationally.
Mel also has a very strong tennis background having played at rep level as a junior and worked for Tennis Auckland for over 22 years in a number of roles across the organisation. In recent years she was focused on the delivery of the ASB Classic and finished her last two years as General Manager of the ASB Classic
Mel and Jules have a wealth of experience delivering world class surfacing and are the only two qualified applicators from New Zealand to have assisted for several years with the surfacing of the Australian Open courts at Melbourne Park.
