The 2023 Pacific Games originally scheduled to be held in the Solomon Islands from the 16th-29th July 2023 have now been rescheduled to be held from Saturday 19th November – Friday 2nd December 2023.
The reason is that Covid-19 has caused delays to the construction of the facilities. The venue construction programme, which is being largely supported by the Chinese, Indonesian and Papua New Guinea Governments, is expected to be complete by mid 2023. The original July date would have given the organizers little time to test the venues to ensure that they are fully operational.
