Pacific Oceania made the perfect start in their quest to win promotion in 2023 to the World Group II. Pacific Oceania beat Iran 3-0 without dropping a set. The #2 Pacific Oceania Player, Clement Mainguy(VAN), won the opening rubber against his Iranian opponent 6-4, 6-4; Colin Sinclair(NMI), the #1 Pacific Oceania player, did similarly winning 6-2, 6-3. Then Gillian Osmont (TAH), playing in his Davis Cup debut couldn’t have had a better start. Pairing with experienced Brett Baudinet(CI), who was playing in his 61st Davis Cup Tie, they wan their double match also convincingly 6-3, 6-3.
