Pacific Oceania Players Play in Asia-Pacific Elite 14 and U Trophy Event at the Australian Open

Two Pacific Oceania players, La Hunn Lam (NMI) and Colita Hakena (PNG) have joined 7 other players in the just completed Asia-Pacific 14 and U Trophy Event on the hard courts at the Australian Open. Players came from Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Kazakhstan, Korea, New Zealand, Northern Mariana Islands, Thailand and Uzbekistan.

Players were drawn into 2 respective Pools with play-off for the 1st-8th positions. La Hunn Lam finished in 7th position and Colita Hakena in 8th position.

As a lead-up preparation, Lam and Hakena were part of the GSPDP/ITF/OTF Albury Tour, where Colita Hakena played in the Margaret Court Cup and won the U14 Event 6-3 2-6(10-8) against Janet Waddell(AUS), then continued on to win the Victoria Grass Courts A-Grade Women’s Singles against Daisy Kukuljane(AUS), 4-2, 2-4,10-6. La Hunn Lam made the finals in the 14U Boys Doubles and was a semi-finalist in the A-Grade Men’s Category.
