Pacific Oceania Fed Cup Team Beaten 3-0 by 4th Seeds Indonesia

On the opening day of Fed Cup play in Hyderabad, India the 4th Seeds Indonesia beat Pacific Oceania 3-0 to lead pool D Pool D

The opening rubber started well for Pacific Oceania with #2 player Abigail Tere-Apisah winning the 1st set 6-2 before eventually losing the match 2-6,6-1, 6-3 to Lavinia Tananta, ranked #885 in the world. Apisah had 13 break-point opportunities throughout the match but was only able to convert 5 of these.

In the 2nd rubber #1 player Steffie Carruthers, who had earlier in the week been suffering illness, was beaten 6-2, 6-0 by Deria Nur Haliza, ranked #884 in the world. Carruthers only had 1 break point chance in the match with her opponent converting 5 of the 9 chances she had.

In the dead doubles rubber The Pacific Oceania Doubles team of Brittany Teei/Abigail Tere-Apisah lost 6-0,6-2. They had 6 break point opportunities but were unable to covert any of these compared to their opponents who converted 5 of the 9 opportunities that they had.
