Pacific Oceania Davis Cup Team Win on Day 2 in Bahrain

The Pacific Oceania beat hosts Bahrain 3-0 on the 2nd day of pool play in Bahrain overnight to lead Group A Bahrain DC Gr.IV – Group A

The Pacific Oceania Team collectively played for 5.75 hours in the searing Bahrain heat before prevailing 3 rubbers to 0 though at times the final score belied the closeness of the Tie. The opening rubber saw Cyril Jacobe defeat Bahraini Abdulkarim Abdulnabi . Jacobe struggled at times with his serve with only a 57% 1st serve percentage but eventually he prevailed 26 63 63 in 1hr 55min.

The 2nd rubber was also close with Heve Kelley in his 1st Davis Cup Tie taking his win/loss record to 2-0 in singles after his singles win on Day 1. Coming from a set down following a long 1st set which Kelley lost in a very tight tie break 6-7(6), Kelley eventually prevailed in 2hr 30mins 6-7(6), 6-4,6-2 against Yusuf Qaed though he will rue converting only 7 of 20 break point chances.

In the dead doubles rubber Brett Baudinet and Daniel Llarenas continued their domination of doubles by beating Yusuf Qaed and Hasan Abdulnabi 62 76(2) in the dead doubles rubber. Results Day 2

The Pacific Oceania pairing have played every doubles rubber for Pacific Oceania in 2014 and 2015 and have an 8-0 win/loss record in Davis Cup Doubles in 2014 and 2015
