Pacific Oceania Davis Cup Team Makes the Promotion/Relegation Play-Offs in Bahrain

In an action packed day in Isa Town in the Kingdom of Bahrain the Pacific Oceania Davis Cup Team defeated Jordan 2-1 in a top-of-the-table clash in Pool A and as a result will progress to the promotion/relegation Play Offs commencing tomorrow (Saturday) with their likely opponent the United Arab Emirates

But not before the Pacific Oceania team had to fight to secure this win. First on court was Cyril Jacobe and after a 1 hr 49min rubber he finally prevailed in 3 setsĀ 36 62 63 to give Pacific Oceania an important start and lead in the Tie. With a 53% 1st serve percentage and 5 double faults he at times struggled to dominate the match but his experience was shown in important times of the match after being down a set, converting 8 of 14 break point chances

Then Seif Adas levelled the tie for Jordan in another tough three-set match, defeating Heve Kelley 76(4) 06 64. This 2hr 23min match saw Heve Kelley win overall more points than his opponent (102 vs 95) but only converted 5 of 11 break point chances to his opponent’s 4 of 6 and in the final result, this proved crucial.

Then in the deciding doubles the class team of Brett Baudinet and Daniel Llarenas, now unbeaten in 9 consecutive doubles matches in 2014 and 2015 were in a league of their own beating theĀ Jordanian duo Mousa Alkotop and Tareq Talal Shkakwa in a decisive 61, 62 win to seal the overall victory for Pacific Oceania 2-1 in 53 minutes without dropping serve and winning 5 of their 6 break point chances with an impressive 81% 1st serve percentage Results Day 4
