After Day 2, the Pacific Oceania lead Group A Pool after stunning the Event’s Top Seeds, Chinese Taipei, by winning both singles to have an unassailable lead of 2-0 before losing the dead doubles rubber to finish at 2-1. Violet Apisah, playing #2, got the Tie off to the perfect start beating Hao-Ching Chan 2-6, 7-5,7-5. Then Carol Lee beat the opposing #1 Chinese Taipei player, Pei-Chi Lee, ranked 450 in the World in straight sets 7-5, 7-5.
