Pacific Games Teams FInals Today

The finalists in the teams event at the 15th Pacific Games have been decided.

In the first semi-final of the Men’s Event the New Caledonian team beat Tahiti 2-0 (doubles not played) with Nikolas N’Godrela defeating Heve Kelley 6-3,6-3 and Julien Delaplane defeating Angelo Yersin 6-2,6-2.

In the other semi-final Vanuatu defeated Papua New Guinea 2-1 with Cyril Jacobe (VAN) defeating Mark Gibbons(PNG) 6-2,6-3. In the #2 singles Matthew Stubbings (PNG) defeated Aymeric Mara (VAN) 7-5, 6-0. In the deciding doubles Cyril Jacobe/Aymeric Mara (VAN) defeated Mark Gibbons/Matthew Stubbings (PNG) 6-3, 6-2.

So the Gold Medal will be decided between New Caledonia and Vanuatu and the Bronze medal between Papua New Guinea and Tahiti

In the Women’s Teams event the Team from Papua New Guinea only lost 1 game in defeating Fiji 2-0 (doubles not played). In the #1 singles Abigail Tere-Apisah defeated Annie Shannon 6-0, 6-0. In the #2 singles Violet Apisah defeated Ruby Coffin 6-1,6-0.

In the other women’s semi-final New Caledonia defeated Tahiti 2-0. Anaeve Pain defeated Ravahere Rauzy 6-2, 6-4 and Yaelle Honakoko defeated Mayka Zima 6-2, 6-4.

Papua New Guinea and New Caledonia will play off for the Gold medal and Fiji and Tahiti for the Bronze medal
