Abigail Tere-Apisah (PNG) is one of 14 players selected by the ITF to receive the first ever International Player Grand Slam® Grant financed by the Grand Slam Development Fund Grand Slam events announce first grant recipients
12 players will each receive US$50,000 each with Abigail Tere-Apisah receiving US$25,000 as the highest ranked player in the Pacific Oceania Region to ensure that at least one male and female player from each Region of the World receives a grant.
The new Programme will contribute towards her competition-related costs with the aim of helping her to develop as a professional tennis player and to compete in Grand Slam tournaments. Abigail ended 2015 at #931 in the WTA rankings. She currently sits at #386
