2020 Fiji Open Cancelled

Fiji Open 2020 Cancellation.

The announcement of coronavirus (COVID-19) as a global pandemic has led to the placement of significant restrictions on local and international sporting events in Fiji. Following the confirmation of Fiji’s first COVID19 case in Lautoka, this has prompted the closure of non-essential businesses, banned gatherings of over 20 people and banned the participation of international players in Fiji sporting events until further notice.

Under these circumstances, Tennis Fiji has cancelled the 2020 Fiji Open Tennis Championships. This has been a tough but necessary decision that Tennis Fiji is certain is best for the health and safety of the local and international tennis community. Please find below the statement from Prime Minister of Fiji, Frank Bainimarama, addressing the new restrictions in Fiji due to COVID-19.

We thank you for your patience and understanding at this difficult time. Tennis Fiji is grateful for the dedication and passion that the Fiji Open receives every year. We look forward to hosting an even better event in 2021!

We hope everyone stays safe and healthy and closely follows the guidance from their respective governments, Ministries of Health and the World Health Organization.
