2 Pacific Nations in Davis Cup Event in Bahrain

Both the Northern Mariana Islands (NMI) and Guam have just taken part in the Group V, Asia/Oceania Davis Cup Event on the outdoor hard courts at the Bahrain Tennis Federation Centre in Isa Town, Bahrain. There were 15 Nations (Bahrain, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brunei, Guam, Laos, Macau, Maldives, Mongolia, Nepal, Northern Mariana Islands, Philippines, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Yemen) competing with the top 2 Nations being promoted to Group IV in 2025. Nepal and the Philippines were eventually promoted to Group IV in 2025.

Representing the Northern Marianas Island were Colin Sinclair, Robert Schorr, Colin Ramsay, Tomas Abel, Moris Villanueva and Jeff Race (captain). Representing Guam were Derek Okuhama, Camden Camacho, Daniel Llarenas, Arman Sachdev and Torgun Smith (captain). NMI won their Pool C beating all 3 teams in their Pool (Laos, Bhutan and Maldives) without dropping a match. Guam finished 2nd in their Pool A beating Brunei but then losing to eventual Promotional Play Off winner (Nepal). Pool Results

In the promotional Play Off, NMI came agonizingly close to being promoted losing 2-1 to the Philippines. Guam won the Play Off for 5th place, beating Bangladesh 3-0.
