Over the last 10 days, Julian Faulls and Mel Mann (Plexipave NZ) have been in Kosrae doing a major resurfacing of the courts at their National Tennis Centre. This has in part been funded by a Grant from the ITF Facility Grant Funding. Julian Faulls said that these courts were in the worst state of any courts that they have worked on in Australia, New Zealand or Pacific Oceania. They said that there was enormous base work grinding and preparation to get the base to their satisfaction before they could start applying the first of some 4 layers of Plexipave surfacing. Needless to say, the Kosrae tennis community and their Government are ecstatic and celebrated this by cooking a special celebratory festival meal in an Umo.
