Pacific Oceania Davis Cup Team Have Indifferent Start in their Davis Cup Group III Tie in Sri Lanka

The Pacific Oceania Davis Cup Team have had an indifferent start to their Davis Cup Tie on the clay courts at the Sri Lankan Tennis Association National Centre in Colombo, Sri Lanka. They lost their first Tie to Malaysia 2-1, then beat Cambodia 3-0. There are 2 Groups with 4 Teams in each Group:

Group A: Vietnam, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Sri Lanka
Group B: Pacific Oceania, Jordan, Malaysia, Cambodia

Pacific Oceania played Malaysia in their opening Tie with both Colin Sinclair (NMI) and Clement Mainguy (VAN) both losing very tight 3 set matches in 3 hour long epic battles in the excessive humidity and 32C heat. Colin Sinclair and Matavao Fanguna (TON) then combined to win their doubles match 6-4, 6-1. Final Score Malaysia beat Pacific Oceania 2-1.

On Day 2 Pacific Oceania beat Cambodia 3-0. Gillian Osmont played his first Davis Cup Singles match beating his opponent, Panlock Kleang 6-0, 6-2. Colin Sinclair then beat the opposing #1 player, Sarinreach Leng 7-5, 6-2 before both Colin Sinclair and Matavao Fanguna won their doubles 6-3, 6-2 to give Pacific Oceania a 3-0 win.

The Group was thrown wide open with Jordan beating Malaysia 2-1. Today Pacific Oceania play Jordan in a must win match. Friday 29th Order of Play.
