The Solomon Islands will host the 2023 Pacific Games following a very close vote earlier this week in Port Vila with French Polynesia the other contender. French Polynesia, who last hosted the Games in 1995, also previously lost out in the final vote when the 2019 Games were awarded to Tonga.
