Steffi Carruthers (SAM) last week played in a Women’s $25,000 Hard Court Event held at Campos Do Jordao, Brazil seeking her 1st point and with it a WTA Ranking
Steffi was unseeded and was one of 8 players qualifying through to the Main Draw from the weekend qualifying draw of 48.
She had a bye in her 1st Round Qualifying, then beat the 6th seed Flavia Guimaraes-Bueno (BRA) 6-2, 6-2 in the 2nd round and in the final round of qualifying beat the 12th seed, Carla Bruzzesi Avella (ARG) 6-4, 6-3.
She subsequently lost in the 1st round of the Main Draw 6-1, 6-2 to another qualifier, Maria-Fernanda Alves (BRA). She needed to win her 1st Round in the Main Draw to earn a point and a WTA World Ranking
